The WebChat client comes in two forms - a Java version which is supplied with the server, and a native Windows one which is available separately. The Java client is for use on web servers, whereas the Windows client is designed to be run on its own.
If you are a server administrator you will need the Java client, available from the server page. Most of you will want the Windows client.
Downloads
The new release of the client is a big download (1.8MB). You must uninstall any previous versions before installing this one.
Please note that while this is a big download, future upgrades will be small
(200KB or so), and the client will be able to have more features.
Current version is v0.7, Build 555.
Windows client features:
- Simple, easy-to-use interface.
- Supports subset of CheetaChat command line syntax.
- Ignore and Away features.
- Save HTML or plain text transcripts.
- Full emotion support - including custom emotions.
- Private messaging.
- 'Whisper' option.
- HTML formatting support.
