O2 Come Good
Previous In Perspective articles have been somewhat critical of Genie and BT Cellnet. When both companies spun out of BT to become O2 their website got off to a shaky start. A year on, it looks like most of the problems are gone. Well done!
The improvements (and fixes!) to the site include the following:
- Email to Mobile - This was always flaky and unreliable - however now it seems that messages do get delivered and mostly in good time (a few seconds normally, but sometimes longer).
- Long Text Messages - A feature offered by other free text message services is the ability to split up long messages into several SMS-sized ones.
- Address Book - The address book prevented entries being added to it after the changeover, but seems to have returned to working order now.
All in all, the site is now working well and coping with the strain placed on it. Text message quotas have clearly made a huge difference to the performance of the system.
